Blackjack · Pick up 5
Real-time multiplayer card game for phones
The British street card game, not 21, played live from your phones. Start a game, share the five-letter code and two to six people play together with no sign-up. Written in C# from end to end.
Highlights
- One rules engine in plain C#, shared by the server that enforces every move and the browser that highlights playable cards
- A SignalR hub with in-memory rooms, where each player is sent only their own hand, so other hands can't be read from the browser's dev tools
- A Blazor WebAssembly phone app with a portrait layout, thumb-reach controls, automatic reconnection after the screen locks and a vibration on your turn
- Every rule covered: pickup chains of 2s and black Jacks, red Jack cancels, runs, bring backs, last cards and house rules agreed before the deal
- 54 xUnit tests, including integration tests that play whole games through the real hub in memory
- The phone app served as static files from shared hosting and the hub run in Docker on Render's free tier, with a 'waking up' screen while it starts
